Turn off the telly, radio and internet, Suarez tells players

Keen to reign in the excitement surrounding his team’s ever increasing chances of league glory, striker Luis Suarez has some offered sage advice to his teammates so that they do not become distracted in preparation for the next match against Norwich City at the weekend.

Although the Reds are in pole position, Suarez is highly aware of the expectation that is upon the team to deliver their fans such a long awaited league title, and is trying to avoid talking to fans while out and about in the city. He has gone to even more extreme measures by trying to block out the news so that he can’t read or hear what is being said about the title race.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said,

“It’s normal for the supporters to get excited and be discussing our chances,” he “When I’m out shopping or out with my family I bump into fans who mention it to me. I’ve told them to stay calm and not to worry. We’ll be trying our best.

He wishes his team to take it one match at a time so that they don’t become sidetracked by the one important goal – which is to put 3 more points on the board at the weekend.

“Winning the title would be very special but we can’t think about that yet.”

If he manages to spearhead the Liverpool charge, this summer will see a remarkable change in his fortunes at the club, leading it to victory less than a year after seeking a move to Arsenal – who were then seen as more viable candidates to win the league. However, with The Gunners struggling of late, and now locked in a dogfight with Everton just to make next year’s Champions League, it seems he certainly made the right choice in signing a new contract and doing his talking on the pitch.
