Pulis comments on Rodgers mistake at warning against ‘long balls and long throws’

It transpires that Rodgers had warned his squad to watch out for ‘long balls, long throws and players behind the ball’ where it would have been more prudent to encourage them to take note of Palace’s fast-paced counter attacks, decisive finishing style and sheer determination to win.

Upon losing 2-0 to Chelsea at home, Rodgers is quoted at saying ‘This game will prepare us for Crystal Palace.’

lfc-books‘We will have to deal with long balls forward and we will have to deal with long throw-ins. They will have lots of players behind the ball which we will be prepared for.’

However it appears that these words, aimed at Mourinho and Pulis, have returned to haunt the Liverpool Manager as a gross underestimation of Pulis’ side, evidenced by last night’s 3-3 draw..

Pulis, less than impressed with Rodgers words was quoted as saying ‘I think Brendan was at the Everton game and we got so many plaudits that night for the way we played, and  I don’t think we used one long throw,’

‘I’ll speak to him when he comes in and find out where he got those quotes from.’
