Pelligrini instructs his team to remain calm and focus if they hope to win the title

With the last few games of the season fast approaching and the race for the title seriously hotting up, Manuel Pelligrini seems completely clear about what needs to happen in order for this team to secure victory for the second time in just three years.

Of course, in English football, anything can happen. Aston Villa have played strongly this season, taking points from teams such as Arsenal and Chelsea. City, sitting in second place currently and requiring just four points to secure the title and six to guarantee it will have a job managing the the Villans as they are sure to be riding high from their 3-1 victory last weekend.

Pelligrini has however called on his side to focus and resist the inevitable pressure

lfc-books UK“Aston Villa is the team we have to play against now. I was working and didn’t watch the Liverpool game. But we don’t depend on the result of Liverpool. I was working on Aston Villa. I knew of the result after the game was finished because other people were saying what had happened. It’s always a good lesson for everybody. Nobody knows what can happen in football, that’s why it’s the most popular sport in the world. Maybe Liverpool had a sense of trust. They were winning 3-0 but, in three balls, the score changed. It’s not only a lesson for the moment, in football, it’s always the same.”

It is perfectly clear that Manchester City now have the advantage and Liverpool can do nothing but sit and watch the drama unfold.
