Jordon Ibe on top form for the England U19 team

19 year old winger Jordon Ibe proved to be on top form yesterday when he scored a stylish hat trick against Montenegro at the Banks’ Stadium in Walsall.

The youngster, who is currently on loan at Birmingham City, has been showing impressive form and is thought to be almost ready to play in LFC’s first team in the 2014/15 season.

With Brendan Rodgers focus on strengthening the side for the attack on the trophies next season, the Redmen are sure to want to bring in some new blood to help them achieve this. Ibe looks set to feature in this strategy and his recent shining performances on the pitch seem to suggest he is ready to take on the challenge.

Signed by LFC from Wycombe Wanderers in December 2011 at the tender age of 16 for an undisclosed fee, the young player made his first team debut in July 2012 in a pre-season friendly match against Toronto, a match which saw the Redmen draw 1-1. Ibe played in the first half only, being substituted at half time.

He put in a fine performance against QPR on the final day of the 2012/13 season and since has played 11 games for Birmingham City. Ibe finished the season by assisting Birmingham City resist relegation from the Championship.

In order for LFC to compete both on home turf and in Europe, they are certain to need players such as Ibe with their drive and enthusiasm. Measured on his performance for the England U19 team yesterday, Ibe seems like a good option for Liverpool’s first team next season. Speaking after the game yesterday he said:

“To get a hat-trick makes it even more special. It was a great feeling and I feel really good to be going back to St. George’s Park with the match ball.”
